Cyprus is set to remain in the grip of intense summer heat, with temperatures climbing to around 40C inland and remaining above seasonal averages through at least Thursday.
According to the Meteorological Service, seasonal low pressure is affecting the region.
Monday's weather will be mostly clear, with winds initially southwesterly to northwesterly at around force 3 Beaufort, gradually strengthening to force 3 to 4 and reaching force 4 to 5 along southern coastal areas during the afternoon.
The sea will be slight to mildly rough.
Temperatures are expected to reach:
- Around 40C inland
- Around 31C on the southwest and west coasts
- Around 34C on the remaining coastal areas
- Around 30C in the higher mountains
Tonight, conditions will remain mostly clear, although periods of increased low cloud are expected to develop along coastal areas later in the evening.
Winds will continue to blow mainly from the southwest to northwest at force 3, occasionally reaching force 3 to 4 in some areas early in the night. The sea will be calm to slight.
Overnight temperatures will fall to:
- Around 21C inland
- Around 23C along the coast
- Around 19C in the higher mountains
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are all expected to remain mainly clear.
Temperatures are not expected to change significantly through Thursday, remaining above average climatological values for the season.
