Temperatures to Reach 39C as Summer Conditions Persist

Warm weather will continue through Saturday, with temperatures remaining above seasonal averages and a slight chance of isolated mountain showers at the weekend.

A seasonal low-pressure system is affecting the region, bringing typical summer weather across Cyprus, with temperatures expected to remain above average for the time of year.

Wednesday

Conditions will be mostly sunny, although locally increased cloud will develop during the afternoon over inland areas and the mountains.

Winds will be mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, initially variable, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort.

The sea will be slight to a little rough.

Maximum temperatures are expected to reach:

  • 39C inland
  • 31C on the southwest and west coasts
  • 34C along the remaining coastal areas
  • 30C in the higher mountains

Tonight

The weather will remain mostly clear.

Later tonight and during the early morning hours, low cloud and patchy mist or fog may develop locally, mainly in southeastern parts of the island.

Winds will be light and downslope at around 3 Beaufort, while the sea will become calm to slight.

Minimum temperatures will fall to:

  • 21C inland
  • 23C along the coast
  • 20C in the higher mountains

Outlook

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, periods of locally increased cloud are expected during the afternoon.

On Saturday, the cloud may produce an isolated shower, particularly in mountainous areas.

Temperatures are not expected to change significantly through Saturday and will remain above the seasonal average.
