US President Donald Trump said early on Wednesday that American military strikes against Iran "will continue until I say enough is enough."
Speaking in an interview broadcast on Fox News' Special Report, Trump said Iran's military capabilities had been "degraded," while adding that Tehran "still has some reserves of resistance".
The US president confirmed that military operations would continue for a fourth consecutive night, and suggested that further attacks could be carried out next week against power-generation facilities and bridges if Iran fails to reach an agreement. "Next week things get really tough for them, because next week the power plants are coming. Next week the bridges are coming," Trump said. "We will destroy all their power plants. We will destroy all their bridges unless they come to the negotiating table."
Trump also said US representatives held talks with Iran on Tuesday.
New wave of US strikes on Iran
The US military announced early Wednesday that it had completed an additional round of strikes against Iran, targeting dozens of sites near the Strait of Hormuz and in coastal areas for the fourth consecutive night.
According to the statement, the strikes targeted facilities housing:
- Missiles
- Unmanned aerial systems
- Naval capabilities
- Coastal defence systems
US officials said the seven-hour operation was designed to further degrade Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping and merchant vessel crews operating in the region.
Naval blockade reinstated
In a statement issued by US Central Command (CENTCOM), the military also confirmed that a blockade of Iranian Gulf ports was reimposed on Tuesday.
The latest developments mark a further escalation in tensions between Washington and Tehran, with both the military campaign and pressure on maritime trade routes intensifying as diplomatic efforts continue.
