Heat to Intensify Before Temperatures Ease on Friday

Temperatures will continue rising through Thursday, remaining above seasonal averages before easing slightly on Friday.

A seasonal low-pressure system is affecting the region, bringing very hot conditions across Cyprus.

Today

The weather will be mostly clear, although increased cloud cover is expected to develop locally over mountainous areas during the afternoon.

Winds will initially be light and variable at around 3 Beaufort before gradually becoming mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort and locally strong at 4 to 5 Beaufort.

The sea will be slight.

Temperatures are expected to reach:

  • Around 41°C inland
  • Around 35°C on the southern and eastern coasts
  • Around 32°C on the western and northern coasts
  • Around 31°C in the higher mountains

Tonight

Conditions will remain mostly clear, although patches of mist, fog and low cloud may form locally overnight.

Winds will be mainly southwesterly to northwesterly and light, around 3 Beaufort.

The sea will remain calm to slight.

Temperatures will fall to:

  • Around 24°C inland and along the coasts
  • Around 21°C in the higher mountains

Outlook

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be mostly clear, with some locally increased cloud cover developing over the mountains during the afternoons.

Temperatures will rise gradually until Thursday, remaining above average for the season, before easing slightly on Friday.
