The Department of Forests has raised the risk of forest fires to Red Alert, its highest warning level, citing extremely dangerous conditions across all forested areas of Cyprus.
According to the department, the fire danger level has been upgraded from "Very High" to the maximum risk category, reflecting increasingly hazardous conditions across the island.
The warning comes just one day after the major wildfire that started at the Kalo Chorio firing range and spread towards the communities of Agia Anna and Psevdas, prompting a large-scale emergency response.
Authorities are urging the public to exercise the utmost caution and avoid any activity that could ignite a fire.
The Department of Forests stressed that under Red Alert conditions, even the smallest ignition source can spread rapidly and develop into an uncontrollable wildfire.
Residents are being urged to remain vigilant and immediately report any signs of smoke or fire to the authorities.
