Weak low pressure is affecting Cyprus, bringing a shift towards more autumnal conditions, with isolated showers and thunderstorms forecast over parts of the island in the coming days.
Tuesday will begin mostly clear, although temporarily increased cloud cover is expected locally along the coast. Conditions will gradually become partly cloudy, with isolated rain forecast during the afternoon, mainly over the mountains, inland and northern areas.
Temperatures reach 33°C inland
Winds will initially blow mainly from the southeast to southwest at 3 Beaufort, gradually becoming southwesterly to northwesterly at 3 to 4 Beaufort.
Along parts of the southern coast, winds could strengthen to 4 to 5 Beaufort during the afternoon.
The sea will be smooth to slight.
Temperatures will reach around:
- 33°C inland
- 29°C on the west coast
- 31°C on other coastal areas
- 23°C in the higher mountains
Mainly clear tonight
Conditions will gradually become mostly clear on Tuesday night, although temporarily increased cloud cover is expected, particularly in western areas.
Winds will blow mainly from the northwest at 3 to 4 Beaufort, later easing to around 3 Beaufort.
The sea will be smooth to slight.
Temperatures will fall to around 18°C inland, 20°C along the coast and 13°C in the higher mountains.
Thunderstorms possible through Thursday
On Wednesday and Thursday, locally increased cloud cover developing after midday is expected to bring isolated showers or thunderstorms.
The phenomena will mainly affect the mountains and the eastern half of Cyprus.
Mostly clear weather is forecast for Friday.
Temperatures are not expected to change significantly over the coming days and will remain close to seasonal averages.
