Low pressure is expected to affect Cyprus from Wednesday, bringing more unsettled conditions, local rain and isolated thunderstorms over the coming days.
According to the Department of Meteorology forecast, periods of increased cloud will continue through Friday, with showers and thunderstorms developing mainly during the afternoon and early evening. Hail is also possible during thunderstorms.
Stronger storms possible on Friday
Weather conditions are expected to become more pronounced on Friday, when rain and thunderstorms could be locally heavy or prolonged.
Temperatures will meanwhile fall gradually through Friday, reaching below the seasonal average by the end of the week.
Tuesday forecast
On Tuesday, periods of increased cloud are expected, with isolated rain or a thunderstorm developing during the afternoon, mainly over the mountains and potentially inland.
Winds will blow mainly from the south-west to north-west, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, gradually becoming strong at 5 Beaufort along exposed coasts.
The sea will be slightly rough.
Temperatures will reach around 30C inland and along the southern and eastern coasts, 28C on the western and northern coasts and 19C in the higher mountains.
Overnight conditions
Periods of locally increased cloud are expected overnight.
Winds will become downslope and light at 3 Beaufort, while the sea will generally be calm to slightly rough. It will remain slightly rough locally in the west.
Temperatures will fall to 17C inland, around 20C along the coast and 11C in the higher mountains.
Rain through Friday
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be intermittently cloudy, with local rain and isolated thunderstorms, mainly after midday.
Hail may accompany thunderstorms, while Friday's weather could become locally intense or prolonged.
Temperatures will continue their gradual decline through Friday, falling below average climatic values for the period.
