Average rainfall in the government-controlled areas had reached 77% of the normal level for October by the morning of October 6, according to preliminary data from the Meteorological Department.
A total of 25.2 millimetres of rain was recorded from October 1, while the normal average amount for the entire month is 32.7 millimetres.
Rainfall at four measuring stations had already exceeded 100% of the normal monthly amount. In Athienou, 47.8 millimetres were recorded, compared with a normal amount of 22.2 millimetres, representing 215% of normal.
The highest average amount was recorded at the Polis station, at 63.2 millimetres, reaching 164% of the normal level for the month.
Measurements also exceeded 100% in Frenaros, at 129%, and Xylotymvou, at 113%.
