A light aircraft carrying parachutists crashed in the town of Tomblaine, in north-eastern France, killing 11 people, according to media reports.
French authorities responded to an incident involving a civilian aircraft in Tomblaine, regional officials said.
Regional newspaper L’Est Républicain reported on Sunday that a small plane carrying a group of parachutists had crashed. It was later confirmed that 11 people had lost their lives.
Agence France-Presse reported that police urged the public to “strictly avoid” the area around the airport in Tomblaine.
No further details have been released.
