US forces targeted military sites across Iran for a sixth consecutive night, while Iranian media reported casualties and damage to infrastructure near the Strait of Hormuz.

The United States launched a fresh wave of strikes against Iran early on Friday, marking the sixth consecutive night of military operations in the region.

According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), American forces involving fighter jets, drones and naval assets carried out precision attacks against dozens of military targets across Iran.

The strikes reportedly targeted coastal surveillance and air-defence facilities, logistics infrastructure and military assets linked to naval operations.

CENTCOM said the operations were conducted on the orders of the US president and were aimed at further degrading Iran's military capabilities and responding to recent attacks on commercial shipping in the region.

The command also noted that more than 50,000 US troops remain deployed across the Middle East and are on heightened alert.

Infrastructure also hit

Iranian state media reported that, in addition to military facilities, the strikes also hit infrastructure in southern Iran near the Strait of Hormuz.

According to state broadcaster IRIB, targets included an airport, a railway station and two bridges.

In the Bandar Khamir area, the two bridges that were struck reportedly caused fatalities. The Fars news agency later reported that the death toll had risen to seven.

Meanwhile, the railway station in Bandar Abbas was hit, with state television reporting two injuries, while Iranshahr Airport was struck by at least one US missile. No casualties have so far been reported at the airport.
