Iran's military said on Friday that it launched drone attacks against facilities used by US forces in Bahrain and Jordan, in response to what it described as a 13th consecutive night of US bombardments on Iranian territory.
In a statement carried by state television, the military said drones targeted fuel storage tanks, logistics depots, hangars and military camps used by US forces at Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain.
Earlier, an AFP journalist in Bahrain reported hearing an explosion and the activation of air-defence sirens. It was not immediately clear whether the incident was linked to the Iranian claim.
The same statement said Iran also launched one-way attack drones against US positions at Al Azraq Air Base in Jordan, targeting aircraft hangars, aviation maintenance facilities and military barracks.
Jordanian authorities had not announced any Iranian attack at the time of reporting.
Tehran has repeatedly stated that it considers any facility in the Middle East made available to the US military for operations against Iran to be a legitimate target.
