China’s consumer finance companies issued 581 million personal loans with a combined value of 5.24 trillion yuan, approximately €670 billion, in 2025.
The figures were published in a report by the China Banking Association.
Consumer finance assets increase
The sector’s total assets reached 1.48 trillion yuan, approximately €180 billion, representing an annual increase of 7.18%.
Outstanding loans stood at 1.43 trillion yuan, also equivalent to approximately €180 billion, up 6.85% year on year.
Support for national initiatives
The report highlighted the companies’ participation in major national initiatives, including consumer goods trade-in programmes, rural revitalisation and the provision of financial services to new residents of urban areas.
