A major rescue operation was launched in the Lombok Strait after a fire broke out aboard the KM Putri Yasmin, a ferry travelling from Bali to Lombok.
More than 200 rescue personnel were mobilised to evacuate passengers, while authorities said no casualties had been reported and an investigation into the cause of the fire was under way.
The ferry, carrying around 130 people, had departed from the Indonesian tourist island of Bali when the fire broke out off the coast of Lombok, Indonesian officials said.

The KM Putri Yasmin left Padangbai, Bali, bound for Lembar, Lombok, in West Nusa Tenggara province, according to Bali search and rescue chief I Gusti Lanang Wiswananda, speaking to Reuters.

The head of the rescue agency in West Nusa Tenggara, Mohamad Hariyadi, said the incident began unfolding at 04:39 local time.

He said more than 200 rescue personnel were deployed to assist in evacuating passengers from the vessel.
According to Heri Wiyanto, an official at Bali's Padangbai port, the ferry was carrying at least 114 passengers and 17 crew members, based on passenger and cargo records.
The same official said authorities had already evacuated 33 passengers.
However, broadcaster Kompas reported that all passengers were safe.

The cause of the fire remains unclear at this stage.
