The reported meeting comes days after an Israeli strike targeting an air base in Syria and has not been officially confirmed by either Damascus or Israel.

According to the two sources, who spoke to Agence France-Presse (AFP) on condition of anonymity, al-Shaibani and Gofman discussed several issues related to security and regional stability.
Among the topics raised was the possible creation of a "special operations room" in Jordan under US supervision.
Proposal aimed at preventing clashes
The proposed mechanism would reportedly be designed to prevent military confrontations inside Syria, including potential incidents involving Turkey.
The sources said the initiative was discussed as part of broader efforts to avoid escalation and coordinate security arrangements in the region.
