Kim Yo Jong, sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, has accused the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) of "double standards" after the agency adopted a resolution criticising Pyongyang's nuclear weapons programme.
"The biased stance and double standards" of the IAEA are "the fundamental factor causing the collapse of the international mechanism for nuclear non-proliferation," Kim Yo Jong said, according to North Korea's state news agency KCNA.
She also argued that the IAEA was turning a blind eye to US actions on nuclear proliferation and to South Korea's plan to acquire nuclear-powered submarines.
In a separate statement carried by KCNA, North Korea's Foreign Ministry stressed the "irreversible" nature of the country's status as a nuclear power.
