CNN reports Pentagon plans include America's largest non-nuclear bomb if Trump orders renewed operations.

The US military has prepared bombing plans that include the use of the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB), commonly known as the "Mother of All Bombs", against Iranian energy infrastructure and nuclear facilities if President Donald Trump orders a resumption of military operations, according to a report by CNN.

The potential deployment of the largest non-nuclear bomb in the US arsenal would mark a significant escalation of the conflict. However, officials familiar with military planning discussions told CNN there are doubts about whether the weapon would be effective in achieving Washington’s strategic goals.

The report said the plans target both Iranian energy infrastructure and nuclear-related facilities as part of contingency options available to US commanders should military operations resume.

Questions remain within policymaking and defence circles over the bomb’s practical value, despite its destructive capacity and symbolism as one of the most powerful conventional weapons ever developed by the United States.

Reuters said it was unable to independently verify CNN's report.
