The cabinet reshuffle was meant to serve coalition party election expediencies, opposition AKEL has claimed, also charging the President with having his own long term goals at the back of this decision making process, in light of the 2028 presidential elections.
'The goal here wasn't to strengthen effectiveness or governmental operational capacity,' AKEL said in a written statement, but serve the parliamentary election interests of specific coalition allies, running into a 2028 horizon too.
As the left wing opposition party notes, this kind of approach is actually testament to the 'monumental ineffectiveness' of the current administration, causing 'social indignation and disappointment', as it further claims.
AKEL vows to continue being a 'solid and responsible force', not just offering up well documented criticism to the Christodoulides government, but also proposing progressive solutions to major national issues.
