A significant development emerged on Monday in the so‑called Videogate case, as investigators have now secured the entire, hours‑long video that lies at the centre of the investigation. Authorities have already begun assessing its contents.

According to independent criminal investigator Andreas Paschalidis, the complete audiovisual material includes all conversations captured, not just the excerpts that previously circulated online. Investigators obtained the video following coordinated actions, and an analytical review is under way.

Extension approved to complete investigations

The progress of the inquiry has made it necessary to continue investigative work. Paschalidis therefore submitted a request to extend his appointment by two months. The Attorney General approved the request, granting additional time to conclude the probe.

Meeting at Attorney General’s Office

Earlier on Monday, a meeting took place at the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic, attended by the Deputy Attorney General, the Head of the Criminal Department of the Law Office, the Chief of Police, the Independent Criminal Investigator, and the lead police investigator. The meeting focused on the status of the investigation into the video uploaded on the social media platform X under the account name “Emily Thompson” on 8 January 2026.

In the period since then, investigators have secured the full video containing all conversations, portions of which had been disseminated online, and are evaluating its content. At the same time, investigators have taken a large number of statements and carried out actions to obtain evidence from Cyprus and abroad.

Based on these developments, authorities determined that further investigative work is required. As a result, the Attorney General approved the request by the Independent Criminal Investigator for a two‑month extension to complete the inquiry.
