A new meeting between Nikos Christodoulides and Tufan Erhürman is expected to be scheduled within the coming week, according to sources.
Both leaders have instructed their teams to arrange the meeting as soon as possible, indicating a shared effort to maintain momentum in the ongoing contacts.
The two last met on 6 April at the residence of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative in Cyprus, Hasan Diab.
Speaking after that meeting, President Christodoulides said there had been progress on certain confidence-building measures, with announcements expected at the next meeting.
He added that discussions also covered substantive issues raised by the UN Secretary-General during their recent meeting in Brussels. The two leaders exchanged views on a range of proposals and tasked their negotiators with advancing areas where agreement is possible.
“There is progress on some of these issues, and there will be a meeting towards the end of April,” Christodoulides said at the time.
