The government has said that a case of potential hybrid activity against the Republic of Cyprus is being examined in connection with a video circulating on social media over the past hours.

According to a new written statement by Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis, the matter is now being assessed as a possible case of hybrid activity against the Republic of Cyprus, following further examination and evidence already collected by the competent state service.

Letymbiotis said that both the Attorney General and the Chief of Police have been informed.

It is recalled that, in an earlier statement, the Government Spokesman said that, according to the initial assessment of the competent service, the video was described as malicious and a product of editing, arguing that it contains false and misleading claims aimed at undermining the image of the government and the country.

The video appeared as a “leak” on the X platform and includes conversations involving individuals who hold or previously held public office, as well as a businessman, which are alleged to have been recorded using a hidden camera. Its content has triggered public debate and political reactions.

In statements and posts, political parties have called for clarifications and answers from the competent authorities, raising issues of transparency and institutional functioning.
