Minor remanded for Pyla attempted murder and arson in 5th arrest over the case

Τhe 17 year old was remanded for eight days by the Larnaca District Court in a closed door session, following his arrest last night in connection with a case of conspiracy to commit murder, arson, illegal possession of an automatic weapon and explosives.

The said offences were committed on August 14th at a car dealership business on the Larnaca-Dhekeleia road, near Pyla.

The minor was arrested at a Larnaca home in a coordinated operation following a tip off and evidence was collected for forensic examination. According to reports he was brandishing a pistol with which he threatened a security guard.

The case is still in its early stages, with a number of pending processes in order to proceed with investigation, including the results of forensing testing, releasing data from the suspects mobile phones, locating a pistol allegedly used in the attempted murder, a getaway car, the bottle which the suspects used for the molotov coctail they threw at the vehicle, as well as clothes and hoods worn on the day of the crime.

Four other people are in custody in connection with the case, a second minor, also 17, a 23, a 27 year old and a 44 year old, a convict in Central Prisons, who was set to be released next month and appears to have orchestrated the attack from jail.
