The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment has announced that Christmas trees will be available for sale to the public from Wednesday, 26 November 2025, until Friday, 19 December 2025, at designated sales points across Cyprus.
According to the Department, all trees come from thinning operations in forest plantations carried out as part of forestry management measures. These operations aim to improve the growth conditions of the remaining trees and reduce competition within the forest stands.
The Department reminds the public that cutting, possessing or transporting Christmas trees without a valid permit constitutes an offence under the Forest Law of 2012. Violators are subject to fines of up to €5,000, imprisonment for up to one year, or both.

Private owners
Private individuals who own trees are urged to obtain the necessary felling and transport permits in advance and to present them to Forestry Department officers upon request. Before transporting trees from felling sites, they must also ensure that each tree is stamped at its base (cross-section) with the official seal of the Forestry Department by contacting the nearest forest station.
The Forestry Department emphasises that purchasing trees through official sales points supports sustainable forestry practices and helps protect Cyprus’s natural environment.
