Four men face direct indictment before the Limassol Assize Court on 29 January 2026, with prosecutors seeking their remand; 104 witnesses are listed for the prosecution.

Four suspects have been charged so far in the murder of Stavros Demosthenous: two 30-year-olds, a 51-year-old and a 31-year-old. The court held a brief procedural hearing and referred the case for direct trial before the Limassol Assize Court on January 29, 2026.

Court timeline and custody status

After the prosecution delivered the case file to defence counsel, the court adjourned proceedings until tomorrow at 10:30 a.m., when lawyers will argue whether the four defendants should remain in custody pending trial. Prosecutors have requested remand.

The 51-year-old, who had been at liberty until now, appeared at court of his own accord and was served with a summons on the spot. Later, the prosecution asked that he be remanded. The court ordered him to remain available until tomorrow’s hearing, with his presence secured by reporting to a police station three times before the sitting.

Witness list

The indictment lists 104 prosecution witnesses, including three individuals who were previously arrested in connection with the case and later released.

According to the indictment, the alleged offences include: premeditated murder; conspiracy to commit a felony; conspiracy to commit murder; arson; unlawful possession, transport and use of a firearm; unlawful possession, transport and use of explosives; theft of a motor vehicle; participation in a criminal organisation; and handling stolen goods (the last count applies only to the 31-year-old).
