Police investigations are continuing into the shooting incident that took place in the early hours of Tuesday, December 30, 2025, in an area of Paralimni.
Authorities were alerted yesterday following information that gunshots had been fired outside a residence connected to a person from the close circle of a businessman active in the free Famagusta district.
According to police sources, the incident occurred shortly after midnight when unknown individuals allegedly opened fire at the house. The same sources indicate that the businessman in question has been targeted on two previous occasions in the recent past, a fact that is being assessed as part of the ongoing investigation.
Pattern of earlier incidents
It is noted that last summer, a hand grenade was discovered at a busy premises in Ayia Napa linked to the same businessman, prompting the immediate evacuation of the area. A few days later, a further warning was issued regarding a possible explosive device at the same location, although no suspicious object was found following police searches.
Investigators are examining whether the latest shooting is connected to these earlier incidents, as inquiries continue to establish the circumstances and possible motives behind the attack.
