Police issued a new warning on Saturday following fresh reports of telephone fraud attempts, reminding the public that neither the Police nor any other organisation ever requests personal or banking information by phone.

According to the complaints, fraudsters pose as representatives of the so‑called “European Economic Police” and contact unsuspecting citizens, asking for bank account or electronic wallet details with the aim of deceiving them and illegally extracting money.

Authorities stressed that the Police never contact citizens by phone to request banking details, personal data or any other financial information.

The calls are a scam, the Police said, urging the public not to provide any information and to notify the authorities immediately if such a call is received.
