Cyprus is marking Epiphany today with ceremonies and religious services across the island, under generally clear skies, according to the Meteorological Department. From early morning, worshippers have been attending churches for the Divine Liturgy and preparing for the traditional blessing of the waters, with many expected to brave the cold seas to retrieve the cross.

Celebrations are taking place in all major cities of the Republic, as well as in Agia Triada, Rizokarpaso, as has been customary in recent years. According to an announcement by the local community council, the service there is being led by the Bishop of Karpasia Christoforos, followed by the blessing of the waters at the bay of Agios Thyrsos.

The President Nikos Christodoulides, is attending the official Epiphany celebrations in Paphos. The Divine Liturgy is being officiated by Archbishop Georgios at the Church of Agioi Anargyroi in Kato Paphos. In the capital, the Divine Liturgy is taking place at the Church of Agia Varvara in Platy Aglantzia. A procession follows at 10:30 a.m. towards the lake at Athalassa Park, where the blessing of the waters is scheduled for 11 a.m., followed by cultural and traditional performances, including music, dance and activities for children.
