A noticeable flow of visitors has been reported in Troodos from early Saturday, with many taking advantage of the winter scenery despite the challenging weather conditions in the area.
The heaviest snow accumulation is mainly observed at the higher elevations and on the summit of Troodos, while the central square has also been covered in snow, creating a striking winter landscape.
The scene is further enhanced by fog, which intermittently limits visibility, as well as light rainfall.
Speaking to the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), a spokesperson for the Police Communications Department said that despite the weather conditions, visitor numbers remain significant, and no problems have been reported so far.
According to the police spokesperson, the road network remains open, with no ice formation reported.
“The situation on the roads is manageable, and no major problems have been observed. However, due to the fog and wet road surfaces, drivers are advised to exercise extra caution,” the spokesperson said.
He added that low visibility and slippery conditions make careful driving essential, including maintaining low speeds and safe distances from other vehicles.
He assured that the Police will remain on continuous alert, monitoring the situation, which for the time being “remains fully under control.”
