The Water Development Department (WDD) has warned of a potential impact on water supply in Paphos district in the coming days, citing adverse weather conditions affecting the area.

According to the department, intense sea agitation and the accumulation of large quantities of sediment have led to a significant reduction in water production, both from water treatment facilities and desalination plants operating in the district.

In a statement, the WDD said its officials, in cooperation with the Paphos District Organisation of Local Government (EOA Paphos), are on continuous alert and making every possible effort to restore operations as quickly as possible, with the aim of ensuring that demand can be met.

At the same time, the department has appealed to both consumers and local water supply authorities to exercise particular restraint in water use and to take immediate steps to limit consumption until conditions improve.
