27-Year-Old Arrested in Limassol Over €8,200 Theft From Car

Police say the suspect was found with most of the stolen cash and a mobile phone belonging to the 68-year-old complainant.

Police in Limassol have arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with the alleged theft of €8,200 from a vehicle belonging to a 68-year-old woman. The arrest was carried out by officers of the Limassol Criminal Investigation Department.

The suspect was located several hours after the incident was reported, with authorities stating that a large portion of the missing money and a mobile phone belonging to the complainant were found in his possession.

Reported theft from vehicle

According to the Cyprus Police, the incident was reported on Wednesday by the 68-year-old complainant. She stated that at approximately 14:15 a bag was stolen from her car while it was parked and unlocked on a street in Limassol.

The bag reportedly contained €8,200 in cash as well as various personal documents.

Arrest and evidence recovered

Police officers located the 27-year-old suspect at around 19:00 the same day. During a body search carried out by officers, authorities found €7,780 in cash and a mobile phone.

Police said the phone was identified as belonging to the 68-year-old complainant.

Ongoing police investigation

The suspect was arrested for a flagrant offence and has been taken into custody.

The Limassol Criminal Investigation Department is continuing its investigation into the case.
