The Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus (CMP) expressed its gratitude to the United Kingdom on Wednesday, for a financial contribution of €17,282 (£15,000).

According to a CMP statement, this latest donation brings the total UK support for the committee since 2004 to €322,282.

The funding has enabled the CMP to carry out essential DNA analyses and procure the necessary equipment to continue its work throughout 2026.

“The ongoing support of the United Kingdom is a valuable contribution to the CMP’s efforts to identify and return the remains of missing persons, helping families who have lived with long-term uncertainty to find closure,” the statement said.

Since its establishment, the committee has successfully identified 1,065 missing individuals from both communities in Cyprus, returning their remains to families for burial.
