Fire Service Responded to 121 Bonfire Calls Over Easter Period

Nearly half of all fire-related incidents stemmed from Easter bonfires, figures show.

The Fire Service responded to 121 calls related to Easter bonfires over the past five days, from 6 am on April 9, to 6am on April 14, according to official figures.

In a statement, the Fire Service said it handled a total of 299 calls for assistance during this period. These included 226 fires, 61 special service calls, and 12 false alarms.

Of the 226 fire-related calls, 121 were linked to Easter bonfires, the Service said.

The Fire Service also reported that between 6am on April 13 and 6am on April 14 alone, it responded to 37 calls for assistance, comprising 27 fires, eight special service calls, and two false alarms.
