The Anti-Corruption Authority is expected to receive the third part of the report by Gabrielle Louise McIntyre and her team on the investigation into former President Nikos Anastasiadis in early September. Officials say the Authority will publish a detailed summary of its findings.

If the report uncovers evidence that warrants further scrutiny, it will be handed over to the Legal Service, which will determine whether a criminal investigation is needed. Sources stress that this decision will not be made by Attorney General George Savvidis. Instead, an independent criminal investigator will be appointed to make that determination.

Savvidis, has long maintained that due to his personal friendship with Anastasiadis, he could not take responsibility for deciding whether the former President should face legal consequences, a position that has been clear from the outset.
