Lidl Cyprus marked Universal Children’s Day with a renewed commitment to safeguarding children’s rights, reinforcing a partnership that is already leaving a measurable impact on communities across Cyprus. Far from a symbolic gesture, the collaboration with Hope For Children CRC Policy Center has evolved into a structured, long-term initiative focused on education, prevention and early support.

Since 2024, Lidl Cyprus has channelled €60,000 into programmes designed to protect young people and equip them with the tools they need to navigate the challenges of today. The investment supports three interconnected areas: school-based non-formal education, accessible information through digital platforms, and uninterrupted helpline services for children and families.

Education, awareness and real-time support

A core part of the partnership centres on experiential workshops in schools, delivered through the Beat Bullying scheme and the Team Up programme. These sessions help children recognise harmful behaviours, build resilience and develop healthier ways of interacting with peers.

Another pillar is the organisation’s podcast series, which grew into an established educational platform offering easily accessible guidance on children’s rights, online safety and emotional wellbeing. At the same time, the 1466 Child Helpline continues to operate around the clock, providing psychological, social and legal support to anyone seeking immediate help.

A growing footprint across Cyprus

The reach of these programmes has expanded significantly:

• 2,300 students aged 4–18 have taken part in school interventions

• More than 100,000 people have attended open community events

• Eleven actions have been delivered across four provinces, supported by 40 professionals and 30 volunteers

• Forty child ambassadors are now involved, doubling last year’s participation

• The 1466 Line handled 181 calls, each representing a moment when someone reached out without fear or hesitation

For many children, knowing that help is available can be transformative. As a 14-year-old participant put it: “It’s nice to know that there is someone you can call, without... being embarrassed.”

A partnership with measurable outcomes

Lidl Cyprus sees its role not only as a funder but as a partner invested in long-term results.

“We are actively supporting the right of every child to protection, safety and dignity, from bullying prevention to access to helplines and reliable information. Our commitment continues,” said Vasiliki Adamidou, Corporate Affairs Director of Lidl Cyprus.

For Hope For Children, the support strengthens its ability to respond to urgent and evolving needs.

“Lidl Cyprus’ contribution significantly strengthens our work and enables us to offer even more targeted and effective services to children in need,” noted Executive Director Andria Neocleous.

Building a safer environment for every child

Lidl Cyprus’ wider corporate responsibility agenda prioritises prevention, education and early intervention for children and families. In partnering with Hope For Children, the company signals its belief that meaningful social change comes through consistency, community involvement and evidence-based action.

The collaboration demonstrates that creating hope for children is not an abstract concept – it becomes tangible when organisations and communities work together to ensure every child’s rights are protected and upheld.
