Ten €10,000 scholarships for Cypriot and Greece-educated students pursuing careers in shipping, engineering and maritime law

SAFE BULKERS Inc. has announced the launch of its 6th Annual Scholarship Programme for the academic year 2026–2027, reaffirming its long-term commitment to education and human capital development within the framework of its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy. The programme offers substantial financial support to young people aiming to build professional careers in the maritime and shipping sector, one of Cyprus’s most strategic industries.

Ten Scholarships Of €10,000 Each

The scholarship programme includes ten (10) awards of €10,000 each. They are open to Cypriot citizens as well as Greek citizens permanently residing in Cyprus, who are either graduating from secondary education institutions in Cyprus or already enrolled in undergraduate or postgraduate studies abroad.

Eligible applicants may be studying in Greece, the United Kingdom or other recognised universities overseas, provided their academic focus aligns with the maritime industry.

Fields Of Study Covered

The scholarships support undergraduate and Master’s level studies in disciplines directly linked to shipping, engineering and maritime services, including:

  • Naval Architecture / Marine Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering
  • Electronic Engineering / Computer Engineering / Automation
  • Computer Science, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Analytics
  • Shipping Law
  • MSc in Shipping Trade and Finance

Academic Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet minimum academic standards, depending on their educational pathway:

  • High school graduates: University acceptance letter, minimum high school grade of 18.0 and A-levels in Mathematics or Physics with a minimum grade B
  • UK university students: Annual average above 60% or a 2.1 classification
  • Greek Polytechnic students: Annual average grade above 6.5
  • UK Master’s students: Greek Polytechnic degree grade of at least 7.5 or UK university degree at 2.1 level
  • Other foreign universities: Annual average grade of “Very Good” or higher

Social Criteria Also Apply

In addition to academic merit, the selection process takes into account social criteria, including family or marital status and overall family income, ensuring that support reaches students who demonstrate both excellence and genuine need.

How To Apply And Deadline

Interested candidates can submit their application through the dedicated online form available on SAFE BULKERS’ official website. All required information and supporting documentation must be uploaded electronically.

Applications for the 2026–2027 academic year must be submitted no later than 31 August 2026. Supporting documents and academic certificates may be submitted before the start of the academic year if they are not available at the time of application, provided all documentation is completed before the deadline.
