Signs of progress appear to be emerging regarding the ongoing discussions on the Cost of Living Allowance (CoLA).
Following a meeting on Monday evening between President Nikos Christodoulides and the leaders of the trade unions SEK, PEO, DEOK, and PASYDY, attended by the Ministers of Finance and Labour and Social Insurance, trade unions reportedly left the session feeling optimistic.
According to union sources, Monday’s discussions were conducted in a positive atmosphere, with clear indications that the conditions for an agreement are beginning to take shape. Representatives of the unions reportedly departed in good spirits, noting that the prospects for a favourable outcome appear increasingly likely.
The sources also indicated that the unions agreed to refrain from public statements or commentary until Wednesday afternoon, to allow ongoing processes to proceed smoothly.
A pan-union meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, alongside a joint meeting of employer organisations. The results of these discussions are expected to clarify the situation and, if the proposed agreement is accepted, pave the way for its formal signing.
