Average gross monthly earnings in Cyprus rose by 4.3 percent in the third quarter of 2025, reaching €2,452 compared with €2,352 in the same period of 2024, according to preliminary data released on Wednesday by the Statistical Service.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, average gross earnings also recorded a quarter on quarter increase of 0.7 percent compared with the second quarter of 2025.

Men earn more on average, women record higher annual increase

Average gross monthly earnings for men in the third quarter of 2025 are estimated at €2,622, while women earned an average of €2,238.

Compared with the third quarter of 2024, men’s earnings increased by 3.8 percent, while women recorded a higher increase of 4.9 percent.

In terms of earnings distribution, the largest share of male employees, 41.3 percent, falls within the €1,500 to €2,999 income bracket. Among women, the highest proportion, 40.5 percent, is concentrated in earnings below €1,500.

Earnings by nationality

Significant differences also emerge when earnings are examined by nationality.

Among Cypriot employees, the largest share, 43.9 percent, earns between €1,500 and €2,999 per month.

By contrast, nearly half of non Cypriot employees, 49.1 percent, receive monthly earnings below €1,500.

At the top end of the pay scale, 3.8 percent of Cypriot employees earn €6,000 or more per month. The corresponding figure for non Cypriot employees is higher, at 7.6 percent.

Overall picture

The latest figures confirm a continued rise in average wages, while also highlighting persistent disparities linked to gender and nationality. Despite overall growth in earnings, a substantial proportion of workers, particularly women and non Cypriot employees, remain concentrated in lower income brackets.
