Tehran has reportedly reached an agreement on the selection of a new supreme leader as the conflict in the Middle East continues to intensify, with no indication that the opposing sides are seeking de-escalation.

At the same time, Israel is carrying out strikes in Lebanon targeting Hezbollah, which has also threatened further attacks. Entire areas of the country have been evacuated.

Iran also launched new attacks against Gulf countries, with the president of the United Arab Emirates stating that “Tehran is now our enemy”. These attacks came only hours after the Iranian president apologised to Arab countries that had been targeted and pledged that such incidents would not happen again.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump left open the possibility of a ground operation, a scenario to which Iran has said it would respond.
