The share of people aged 16 to 74 in Cyprus who use public authority websites or apps reached 70.1% in 2025, just below the European Union average, according to the latest data published on Thursday by Eurostat.
Across the EU, 71.9% of citizens in the same age group used e-government services through public authority websites or applications in 2025. According to the data, this share increased by 1.9 percentage points compared with 2024 and by 4.3 percentage points compared with 2022, when the relevant data collection began.
According to Eurostat data, the highest levels of e-government use were recorded in Denmark (98.0%), Netherlands (96.2%), Finland (96.1%) and Sweden (96.0%). By contrast, the lowest shares were observed in Romania (24.1%), Bulgaria (36.0%) and Italy (57.7%).
The most common use of e-government services in the EU was searching for information on public services, benefits, legislation or opening hours, reported by 44.2% of users. This was followed by accessing personal information (41.3%) and submitting tax declarations (38.2%).
Citizens also used public authorities’ online services to make appointments or reservations (38.1%), download or print official forms (36.7%), and receive official communication or documents (36.6%).
Other uses included applying for official documents or certificates (20.8%), accessing public databases or registers (20.7%), submitting applications for benefits or other entitlements (18.1%), as well as filing requests, claims or complaints (5.7%).
