Over 800 Cypriots Repatriated From High-Risk Areas, Says Government

Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis says additional repatriation flights planned, and calls on Cypriot nationals abroad to register on the government portal Connect.Cy.

The number of Cypriot citizens repatriated so far from high-risk areas has reached 805, Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis said on Friday, during a media briefing at the Presidential Palace.

Two more repatriation flights took place on Friday, one carrying 145 passengers and the other, 148 passengers, bringing the total number of repatriated citizens to 805, he said.

Letymbiotis added that a total of five repatriation flights have been carried out so far, while the competent authorities, under the coordination of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with the participation of all relevant state services, are continuously monitoring the data and adjusting planning so that every available transport option can be utilised.

Additional repatriation flights have already been arranged and efforts are underway for more such flights, he said, noting that the situation will be constantly reassessed to ensure Cypriot citizens currently abroad will be able to return safely to Cyprus.

The spokesperson highlighted the cooperation of Cypriot nationals in the effort, while reiterating the government’s call on Cypriot natioanals abroad to register on the Connect.Cy platform and contact the Foreign Ministry’s National Crisis Management Centre on +357-22801000, which operates on a 24-hour basis.
