President Nikos Christodoulides said he hopes to hold a further two to three meetings with Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman before travelling to New York later this month for the United Nations General Assembly.
Speaking during a meeting on Monday with the Mayor and Municipal Council members of Morphou, Christodoulides highlighted the importance of ongoing contacts ahead of the UN gathering.
"It is an important meeting, also ahead of my trip to New York and the meetings I have with the Turkish Cypriot leader," the President said.
He noted that he is due to meet Erhürman again on Wednesday.
"I hope we will have another two or three meetings before we go to New York," he added.
Christodoulides also indicated that he would brief the Morphou delegation on developments and discuss their plans and how efforts could move forward jointly.
