Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is expected to visit the north on Friday, 6 November, against the backdrop of ongoing efforts to revive negotiations on the Cyprus issue.
According to reports by Turkish Cypriot news outlet Haber Kıbrıs, Fidan is scheduled to meet Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman to discuss recent developments in the Cyprus issue and prospects for the process being conducted under the auspices of the United Nations.
The visit will be Fidan's first to the north since Erhürman assumed leadership of the Turkish Cypriot community.
It comes just days before a planned trilateral meeting and at a time when efforts are continuing to advance confidence-building measures and restart the negotiation process.
The discussions are expected to focus on the current state of the Cyprus issue and the next steps in the UN-led diplomatic initiative.
