The European Union will provide an additional €3.3 billion to support Ukraine with missiles and drones, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced on Thursday.
Von der Leyen disclosed the new funding in a post on X following a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Focus on defence capabilities
The additional EU funding is intended to strengthen Ukraine’s missile and unmanned aerial vehicle capabilities as the country continues efforts to bolster its defences.
Von der Leyen announced the initiative after discussing the situation with Zelenskyy, although further details about the allocation of the €3.3 billion were not provided in the report.
Zelenskyy calls talks ‘very productive’
In a separate post on Telegram, Zelenskyy made no direct reference to the new EU disbursement.
He did, however, describe his conversation with von der Leyen as “very productive”, saying the two had discussed steps considered vital to the resilience of Ukraine’s defence.
According to the Ukrainian president, the talks also covered financing issues and other measures aimed at strengthening the country’s defensive capabilities.
