Houthi Missile Reportedly Hits Riyadh Airport, Killing at Least Two

Hospitals in the Saudi capital called in doctors urgently, with a medical source saying many are in critical condition.

At least two people have been killed and dozens injured in an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, according to the latest toll. A diplomatic source said the airport had been struck by a missile fired by Houthi forces. Air traffic was suspended following the strike.

Hospitals declare serious emergency

Doctors were urgently called in to hospitals across Riyadh, according to a medical source in the Saudi capital.

“Doctors are being called to the hospitals. We were told we are facing a ‘serious emergency’. The injured are being transported to hospitals in the capital,” the medical source said.

The source added that many of the injured are in critical condition.

Flights cancelled until further notice

Following the strike, Kuwait Airways, Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways cancelled several flights between major destinations and Riyadh. Some of the cancellations extend until Monday.

Airport issues travel advisory

King Khalid International Airport issued a travel advisory urging passengers to confirm the status of their flights before travelling to the airport.

“Please contact your airline directly and confirm the status of your flight before heading to the airport,” the announcement said.

Recent attacks on airports

Earlier, Saudi fighter jets struck Sanaa airport four times, according to Yemeni media.

A few days earlier, three people were killed in attacks on airports in the kingdom.
