A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an alleged knife attack that left a 45-year-old man seriously injured in Limassol.
According to police, officers from the Limassol Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested the suspect on Saturday morning in relation to offences including acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and carrying a knife.
Police said they received a report shortly after midnight that an injured man had been taken to Limassol General Hospital. Subsequent enquiries established that the victim, aged 45, had sustained a wound to the shoulder blade area, believed to have been caused by a sharp object. His condition was described as serious.

Preliminary investigations indicate that earlier in the evening the 45-year-old received a telephone call from the 40-year-old asking him to come to his home in order to resolve personal differences between them.
The victim reportedly travelled to the suspect’s residence accompanied by two relatives. Police allege that, upon their arrival, the 40-year-old attacked the 45-year-old using pepper spray and a knife, causing serious injuries.
The injured man was taken to Limassol General Hospital, where he underwent surgery. He remains in the hospital’s surgical ward in a serious condition.
Police said the suspect was arrested during the morning hours. Prior to his arrest, he had been taken to a private hospital for treatment to a head injury. After receiving medical care, he was discharged.
Limassol CID is continuing its investigation into the incident.
