Police carried out a coordinated operation in Nicosia on Wednesday as part of ongoing checks linked to illegal stay and irregular migration.
According to police, the operation was conducted by officers from the Nicosia district unit of the Aliens and Immigration Service. It began at 6am and was completed at noon.
A total of 35 people were checked during the operation. Seven foreign nationals were found to be staying illegally in the Republic of Cyprus and were arrested.
The detainees were placed in custody, while procedures are under way for their repatriation to their countries of origin, police said.
The operation forms part of continuing police actions aimed at identifying and deporting people staying unlawfully in Cyprus, as well as tackling offences linked to irregular migration.
