Scooter Rider Dies After Hit-and-Run in Limassol

Ibrahim Al Aawad, 24, has died from injuries sustained when a car struck his scooter and fled the scene, as police also confirm the death of a 17-year-old motorcyclist injured in a separate crash.

Limassol has been hit by fresh tragedy after Ibrahim Al Aawad, a 24-year-old from Syria, died from injuries sustained in a hit-and-run collision on Solonos Street on 26 July.

The crash took place at around 10.45pm, when Al Aawad was riding an electric personal mobility scooter and collided with a car under circumstances still under investigation. The driver of the car fled the scene afterwards.

Al Aawad was taken by ambulance to a private hospital, where he was treated in critical condition. Despite doctors' efforts, he later died of his injuries.

Police also announced earlier the same day the death of a 17-year-old motorcyclist, who died while being treated for serious injuries sustained in a separate road accident on 2 August.
