The Municipality of Limassol has purchased a fully equipped single-cabin fire vehicle worth €40,000 for the Krasochoria wine villages, using money raised through public donations for communities in the Limassol mountains affected by fire. The vehicle will strengthen the firefighting response of the Krasochoria Cluster.
At a ceremony held at Limassol Municipal Hall, Mayor Yiannis Armeftis handed over the vehicle to the cluster's president, Pachna community leader Andreas Savva. Also present were the president of the Union of Limassol Communities, Lefteris Pericleous, the deputy president of the Krasochoria Cluster, Stelios Grigoriou, the district officer for Limassol fire stations and deputy fire chief, Veniamin Louka, the assistant police director of the Limassol Police Divisional Headquarters, Marinos Vasiliou, and members of the municipal council.
Armeftis said that following the municipality's appeal for financial support for those affected by the destructive fire of July 2025, a total of €31,346 had been raised, along with a significant quantity of essential supplies. He said the municipal council had decided, with full transparency and accountability, to put the funds raised toward the purchase of the fire vehicle, with the municipality covering the remaining amount needed to complete the purchase and equip it.
Thanking the municipality, Savva, the cluster's president, said small fire vehicles of this kind play an important role, since they provide the first response to a fire before the arrival of the fire service.
A statement from the Municipality of Limassol said that by supporting the Krasochoria Cluster, the municipality is showing that citizens' contributions can be turned into lasting work that protects human life, the natural environment and local communities.
