Police in Paphos are investigating the circumstances surrounding an 11-year-old’s care after receiving a report on Thursday night that she may have been without adult supervision. Officers responded immediately and confirmed the report.
Child taken into care
During initial inquiries, the girl reportedly told officers that she lives at the property with her father. She said he had been abroad for the past two days.
Social Welfare Services were immediately informed and assumed responsibility for the child’s care and protection.
Police are continuing their investigation under the relevant legislation for the protection of minors. They are seeking to establish the exact circumstances in which the child was left without adult supervision and whether any responsibility arises.
Police examine father’s absence
According to information obtained by Politis, the father is believed to have travelled abroad to attend a Pafos FC match.
Authorities are examining all available information, with particular emphasis on the child’s safety and protection. No official details have so far been released about the circumstances of the father’s absence or the length of time the girl remained without adult supervision.
