41 Third-Country Nationals Arrested in Nicosia

Police arrested 41 third-country nationals living illegally in Nicosia, with 16 already deported and repatriation procedures under way for the remainder.

Cyprus Police have arrested 41 third-country nationals found to be residing illegally in the Republic as part of a coordinated operation in the Nicosia district carried out by the Aliens and Immigration Service.

According to police, 16 of those arrested have already been deported to their countries of origin, while the remaining 25 were transferred to a reception facility.

Police said that, in cooperation with the Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection, procedures are being initiated for their return and repatriation.

The force added that since the beginning of the year, a total of 6,370 people residing illegally in the Republic have been repatriated through both forced-return and voluntary-return programmes.
