Two men aged 21 and 19 have been arrested in Limassol in connection with the robbery of a 25-year-old food delivery driver and a separate investigation into the possession of drugs with intent to supply.
According to police, the robbery took place at around 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the Erimi area of Limassol district.
Delivery driver attacked during food delivery
Investigators say the 25-year-old was attacked by two individuals while making a food delivery.
The suspects allegedly stole his waist bag and motorcycle before fleeing the scene. The motorcycle was later found abandoned in the Erimi area during police searches.
Evidence leads to suspects
During the investigation, police obtained evidence linking the 21-year-old and the 19-year-old to the case.
Authorities said the keys to the victim's motorcycle were found in the possession of the 21-year-old, while a waist bag discovered in the yard of the suspects' residence was identified as the item stolen from the delivery driver.
Drug investigation follows
The two men are also being investigated for possession of drugs with intent to supply another person after police recovered a total of 772 grams of cannabis.
Officers who went to the suspects' residence allegedly saw the 19-year-old throw an object into the yard. The item was found to contain eight packages of cannabis with a total gross weight of 308 grams, along with a precision scale.
Additional cannabis discovered
Further searches by members of the Cyprus Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) led to the discovery of additional cannabis.
Police said the 21-year-old pointed officers to a location in an open area in Erimi where four more packages of cannabis, weighing a total of 464 grams, had been buried.
Suspects remanded in custody
The two suspects were arrested under court warrants and remain in police custody.
The investigation is continuing by the Episkopi Police Station and the Limassol district branch of YKAN.
